When Sushma Swaraj's husband thanked her for quitting politics ...

Sushma Swaraj left many hearts broken when she died an untimely death on Tuesday night. The veteran BJP leader, Sushma Swaraj, died last night due to cardiac arrest in New Delhi. The news of her death has saddened many. The most heartbroken of all would be her husband Swaraj Kaushal.
Swaraj Kaushal spent the last few years playing the role of a worried and devoted husband while Sushma Swaraj continued to work despite a severe medical condition and prolonged hospitalisation. This is why he was perhaps the happiest person on Earth when she announced last year that she will not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
Reacting to her decision to retire, Swaraj Kaushal had said, "Thank you very much for your decision not to contest any more elections. I remember there came a time when even Milkha Singh stopped running."
"This marathon has been on since 1977-that is 41 years. You have contested 11 direct elections. In fact, you contested all elections held since 1977 except when the party did not allow you to contest in 1991 and 2004," Swaraj Kaushal had said in a series of tweets.
Swaraj Kaushal, who served as the Governor of Mizoram between 1990 and 1993, had shared that Sushma Swaraj had spent four terms in Lok Sabha, three terms in Rajya Sabha and she had been elected to state assemblies thrice. "You are contesting elections since you were 25 -- and fighting elections for 41 years is quite a marathon."
"Madam I am running behind you for the last 46 years. I am no longer a 19-year-old. Please, I am also running out of breath. Thank you," Swaraj Kaushal had said.

Sushma Swaraj had a kidney transplant in 2016 but had continued to work through her recovery period.
In 2018, when Sushma Swaraj was attacked by internet trolls for helping a Muslim couple get their passports, Swaraj Kaushal had jumped to her defence and told them to back off.
At the time, a troll had asked Kaushal to beat his wife "when she comes home" and "teach her not to do Muslim appeasement" as "Muslims never vote for the BJP". Reacting to the troll, Kaushal said that his words had brought unbearable pain on him and went on to describe his wife's devotion to the family.
"Your words have given us unbearable pain. Just to share with you, my mother died of cancer in 1993. Sushma was an MP and a former Education Minister. She lived in the hospital for a year. She refused to engage a medical attendant and attended on my dying mother personally," Kaushal said in his reply to the troll.
"Such was her devotion to the family. As per my father's wish, she lit my father's pyre. We adore her. Please do not use such words for her. We are first generation in law and politics. We pray for nothing more than her life. Pls convey my profound regards to your wife."
Sushma Swaraj was hospitalised at the time of the trolling incident.
